DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.Ed)
The Bachelor of education programmer, generally known as B.Ed is a professional course that prepares teacher for upper primary or middle level (classes VI-VIII),secondary level (class IX-X) and senior secondary level(classes VI-XII).
Objective of the programme:
1. To encourage the pupil teacher to be global citizen, serving the human beings at large through the noble profession of teaching.
2. To persuade the pupil teachers to act as agents of modernization, social change, promote social cohesion, international understanding, and work for protection of human rights and rights of the child.
3. To enable the pupil teachers to understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the disciplines of education in general, and teacher education in particular.
4. To make the student teachers understand how children learn and develop, how they differ in their approaches to learning, and create learning opportunities that benefit divers learners and learning context.
5. To imbibe knowledge, develop an understanding of various methods and approaches of organizing learning experiences for secondary school students.
6.To develop the skills of student teachers to plan learning experiences in and outside the classroom that are based on learners existing proficiency ,interests ,experiences and knowledge and unable them to understand how students come to view ,develop ,learn and make sense of subject matter contained in the curriculum.
7. To enable them to foster creative thinking among pupil for the reconstruction of knowledge.
8. To provide student teacher self-identity as a “teacher” through school based learning experiences and reflective practices that continually evaluate the effects there choices and actions.
Duration: B.Ed programme shall be of duration of at least two academic years which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission in the programme.
3. B.Ed training college must be recognized by the NCTE and affiliated/permitted by the university.
4. Working days:
(a)There shall be at least two hundred working days each year exclusive of the period of examination and admission.
(b)The institute shall work for a minimum of thirty six hours in a week during which physical presence in the institution of all teachers and student teachers is necessary to ensure their availability for advice, guidance, dialogue and consultation as and when needed.
©.The minimum attendance of student-teacher shall have to be 80%for all courses and practicum and 90% for school internship.
5. Eligibility criteria for admission
i. Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and /or the master’s degree in science /social sciences/humanity and Bachelor’s in engineering or technology with specialization in science and mathematics with 55%marks or any other qualification equivalent are eligible for admission to the programme.
ii. The reservation for SC/ST/OBC and other categories shall be as per the rules of the central government/state government whichever is applicable. There shall be relaxation 5%marks in favour of SC/ST/OBC and other categories of candidates.
iii. Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the state government/UT Administration/University whichever is applicable.
6. System of teachers /Employee candidates:
i. Secondary/primary school teacher may be allowed to pursue B.Ed training course of study if as per admission criteria he/she is eligible. The regular college teachers should not be allowed to get admission in this course as per clause I mentioned above directed by NCTE.
ii. Employee/teacher candidate should have to submit a no-objection certificate from the employer to pursue the course of study at the time of admission. At the time of submission of application form for examination also copy of the same is to be enclosed.
This category of the candidate shall have to take leave from the job during the period of study and have to submit the release order from the employer concerned. An undertaking as directed by the university must be enclosed during the time of admission or submission of application form for the examination.
