The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Karbi Anglong functions through a well-defined organizational structure designed to ensure effective academic management, coordination, and implementation of teacher education programmes across the district. The structure follows the guidelines of the SCERT, Assam and the Ministry of Education, ensuring uniformity in academic functioning and administrative operations.

The institutional framework consists of administrative leadership, academic departments, and support units, each playing a vital role in maintaining the academic quality and operational efficiency of the institute.


1. Administrative Leadership

Principal

The Principal is the head of the institute and provides overall academic, administrative, and managerial leadership. Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning and supervision of all academic programmes.
  • Coordination with SCERT, Assam and district authorities.
  • Ensuring quality implementation of pre-service and in-service teacher education.
  • Monitoring departmental performance and resource management.

Vice Principal / Senior Faculty (where applicable)

Supports the Principal in academic and administrative functions, oversees departmental coordination, and ensures smooth execution of institutional activities.


2. Academic Faculty Members

The academic team includes Lecturers, Senior Instructors, and Resource Persons who contribute to:

  • Conducting pre-service (D.El.Ed) and in-service training programmes.
  • Curriculum planning, lesson development, and classroom teaching.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, field visits, and research activities.
  • Providing support to schools, BRCs, and CRCs in the district.

3. Academic Branches / Functional Units

DIET Karbi Anglong operates through seven specialized branches, each responsible for a specific domain of teacher education and educational development:

a. In-Service Programmes & Field Interaction (IFIC) Branch

  • Organizes training for in-service teachers, head-teachers, and educational officials.
  • Facilitates field visits, school support activities, and academic mentoring.

b. Curriculum, Material Development & Evaluation (CMDE) Branch

  • Develops learning materials, teaching aids, and evaluation tools.
  • Conducts research studies, action research, and assessment reviews.

c. Educational Technology (ET) Branch

  • Promotes ICT integration and technology-based teaching.
  • Manages digital classrooms, audio-visual resources, and ICT training modules.

d. Work Experience (WE) Branch

  • Coordinates activities related to work education, vocational skills, and creativity-based learning.
  • Conducts training on craft, gardening, art, physical education, etc.

e. Planning & Management (P&M) Branch

  • Supports educational planning and district-level data analysis.
  • Coordinates with Samagra Shiksha, BRCs, CRCs, and local educational authorities.

f. District Resource Centre (DRC)

  • Functions as the academic hub for resource sharing, teacher support, and material repository.
  • Provides reference materials, publications, research documents, and training resources.

4. Administrative & Support Staff


Office Superintendent & Support Staff

Responsible for office management, records, establishment matters, accounts, and communication.

Technical Assistants

Support ICT labs, ET resources, and multimedia infrastructure.

Library Staff

Manage books, digital resources, journals, and academic archives; assist trainees and faculty.

Class IV & Support Personnel

Assist in maintenance, campus services, logistics, and daily operational needs.


5. Governance & Coordination Mechanisms
